Tips for keeping your carpets looking their best between cleanings with a pup in the home:

1. Vacuum at least twice a week, ideally with a vacuum that is specifically designed for pet hair. It's a good idea to utilize the attachments for cleaning corners or harder to reach areas, as pet hair and dander tend to accumulate there.

2. Clean up messes as soon as possible! We recommend using the spotter that our technician provided at your last cleaning, as over the counter products (especially ones specifically meant for pets) can damage your carpet and cause permanent discolorations.

3. Keep your dog's nails trimmed to prevent damage to the carpet fiber.

4. Regularly bathe your pup. Not only will your furry friend look fluffier and smell better, but it can help your carpet to stay cleaner since it can reduce the amount of pet oil transferred from your pet's fur to the carpet (which attracts soil).

5. Don't forget to schedule regular professional cleanings to ensure that your carpet will continue to look its best.

3 Reasons to Consider Scheduling Upholstery Cleaning

Upholstery cleaning is something that can be easily overlooked. You may not consider upholstery as something that requires regular professional cleaning but you would be surprised at the difference it makes. Here are three reasons you should add it to your cleaning list to schedule along with your next carpet cleaning:

1. Upholstery collects allergens like dust mites, pollen, and pet dander. A deep cleaning will rid your home of these unwelcome guests.

2. Bacteria has the tendency to gravitate to hard to reach cracks and crevices in your upholstery. This hidden bacteria can cause an odor and negatively affect your health.

3. Over time your upholstery can fade as it collects dirt, dust, and grime. You may not notice the change in color as it can happen gradually. Getting it cleaned regularly will keep it looking its very best!

Maintaining Upholstery with Dogs in the Home

It's no surprise that dogs and upholstery don't always go together well. However, there are some things you can do to maintain your upholstery with a fur baby in the home:

1. Vacuum your upholstery regularly (at least once a week) to remove pet hair and dirt. Pet hair contains oil that actually ATTRACTS soil so this is very important.

2. Rotate the cushions occasionally, particularly in places that are favored by your pet, to promote even wear.

3. Reduce the amount of dirt and other unwanted particles tracked into your home and onto your upholstery by wiping your pet's paws when entering the home.

4. Cover with a sheet or blanket, as these can be washed frequently. You may also consider purchasing a slip cover for more protection.

5. Clean regularly. Professional cleanings can help to keep your upholstery looking good. It's important to schedule these on a regular basis as the passing of time can turn spots into permanent stains.
